More than 25 crore workers across various sectors have called for a nationwide general strike on July 9 to protest the government's 'pro-corporate policies'.
The workers are demanding urgent steps to address unemployment, creation of more job opportunities, and wage hikes among other demands.
Sectors like banking, insurance, postal services, coal mining, and highways are likely to be most impacted by the strike, with disrupted services expected.
Although no official bank holiday or closure notification has been issued for schools and colleges, disruptions in services are expected on Wednesday.
