BSE, Asia's oldest stock exchange, celebrated its 150th anniversary, tracing its origins back to 1875 when it operated under a banyan tree in South Mumbai.
Founded by Premchand Roychand, known as the 'cotton king' of Bombay, BSE evolved over the years and gained recognition under the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act in 1957.
The launch of the S&P BSE Sensex in 1986 marked a significant milestone for BSE, which has now seen the Sensex surpassing 82,000 points.
With a market capitalization of over Rs 462.48 lakh crore and 5,671 listed companies, BSE continues to be a prominent player in India's capital markets.
