The ₹1.25-lakh-crore twin-corridor project, aimed at improving freight movement in India, is set for full commissioning by December.
The project includes electrified, double-line tracks spanning 3,300 km and aims to reduce logistics costs, decongest existing routes, and cut carbon emissions.
DFCCIL is looking towards future expansion with three new corridors awaiting approval: East Coast, East–West, and North–South, estimated to cost ₹4 lakh crore.
Additionally, DFCCIL plans to refinance existing debt, explore maintenance projects, enhance safety with machine vision-based inspection systems, and shift freight from road to rail.
