Funcom released a patch for its survival MMO Dune: Awakening causing PvE areas to become PvP enabled, leading to players losing bases and equipment.
The change was planned as part of updates to the game's endgame zone, the Deep Desert, focusing on PvP play, which did not sit well with many players.
Funcom apologized for the unintended wipe and promised to reimburse vehicles and items to affected players by the end of the week.
The studio is actively addressing exploits and cheats in the game, banning hundreds of players, with a zero-tolerance policy for behaviors impacting others' experiences, while also working on improvements for player reimbursements and bug prevention.
