The Middle Vaitarna Reservoir in Mumbai reached 90% of its total storage capacity on Monday, following heavy rainfall in the region.
Three gates of the dam were opened to manage the water flow as the water level in the reservoir rose significantly.
The seven lakes supplying water to Mumbai, including Middle Vaitarna, have seen a rise in water levels due to continuous monsoon rains.
The BMC reported that the combined capacity of the seven lakes stood at nearly 68%, with expectations of further rise in water levels in the coming days, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts.
