New York City Mayor Eric Adams' plan of issuing BitBonds has faced opposition from NYC Comptroller Brad Lander.
Lander emphasized that cryptocurrencies are not stable enough to finance the city's infrastructure, housing, or schools.
He also mentioned that NYC lacks the capability to accept Bitcoin transactions or convert Bitcoin to U.S. dollars for bond issuance.
Despite Mayor Adams' verbal support for crypto, practical implementation in New York City remains uncertain due to regulatory and operational challenges.
