Data management startup Ryft, founded by three friends who met in high school and worked together in the Israel Defense Forces, has emerged from stealth with an $8 million seed round led by Index and Bessemer.
Ryft offers a more flexible data product compared to cloud giants such as Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft, AWS, and Google, catering to companies across various industries like finance, e-commerce, adtech, gaming, and cybersecurity.
The company focuses on data optimization, compliance, disaster recovery, and governance, enabling customers to have ownership of their data and use different tools for accessing it, like those for AI app development.
The seed funding will be used by Ryft to hire more engineers, scale sales efforts, and launch new products based on their revenue model of charging a yearly fee tied to the amount of data managed.
