The Indian Rupee closed 46 paise weaker against the US Dollar at 85.86, marking the lowest close level since June 25.
Rupee opened 0.18 paise lower at 85.57 and dropped as much as 58 paise to the dollar during the day to 85.98, the sharpest decline since June 13.
The decline in the Rupee came amid Trump confirming tariffs of up to 70% may take effect on August 1, overshadowing hopes for a Fed interest rate cut.
Due to Trump's BRICS tariff threats, the Rupee was the second worst performer among Asian currencies, with concerns about volatility and impact on EM currencies like the Rupee and Indonesian Rupiah.
