French banking group Societe Generale's digital asset unit SG-FORGE has introduced a USD-pegged stablecoin called USD CoinVertible (USDCV) on Ethereum and Solana blockchains.
The stablecoin is custody-controlled by BNY Mellon, with trading set to commence in early July and unavailable for US residents. Societe Generale issued the first USD-backed stablecoin on public blockchains among major global banking organizations.
USDCV caters to institutional and retail clients outside the US, enabling instant conversions between fiat and blockchain assets round-the-clock. Societe Generale recently secured approval from the French financial regulator AMF for cryptocurrency services through SG Forge.
SG Forge has licensed services such as buying, selling, exchanging, and custody of digital assets. Despite various cryptocurrency exchanges registered with AMF, Societe Generale is the first to receive a formal license for crypto services in France.
