Societe Generale’s SG-FORGE to Launch USD-Pegged Stablecoin on Ethereum, Solana

  • French banking group Societe Generale's digital asset unit SG-FORGE has introduced a USD-pegged stablecoin called USD CoinVertible (USDCV) on Ethereum and Solana blockchains.
  • The stablecoin is custody-controlled by BNY Mellon, with trading set to commence in early July and unavailable for US residents. Societe Generale issued the first USD-backed stablecoin on public blockchains among major global banking organizations.
  • USDCV caters to institutional and retail clients outside the US, enabling instant conversions between fiat and blockchain assets round-the-clock. Societe Generale recently secured approval from the French financial regulator AMF for cryptocurrency services through SG Forge.
  • SG Forge has licensed services such as buying, selling, exchanging, and custody of digital assets. Despite various cryptocurrency exchanges registered with AMF, Societe Generale is the first to receive a formal license for crypto services in France.
