Tata Steel's domestic crude steel production remained largely flat year-on-year at 5.26 million tonnes in the first quarter, with sales decreasing by 3.8% to 4.75 million tonnes compared to the same period last year.
The decline in finished goods production was attributed to maintenance-related shutdowns in Jamshedpur and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd.
In the engineering segment, there was a 5% year-on-year growth due to increased volumes in the oil and gas and railways sectors.
Global operations revealed that Tata Steel's Netherlands liquid steel production remained stable at 1.7 million tonnes, while Tata Steel UK saw deliveries of 0.6 million tonnes for the quarter.
