Microsoft's Windows Recall feature, which captures screenshots and stores them locally, now has an export function for sharing data with third-party apps.
The Recall Export feature is currently only available to users in the European Economic Area (EEA), including EU countries and Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein.
The export function allows for more data privacy control but comes with limitations such as a single encryption key that, if lost, requires the database to be wiped and restarted.
Recall's database is now stored for 90 days on a Copilot+ PC, unlike before when it was kept indefinitely by default.
Microsoft states that these changes are in line with legal compliance and regulations.
The export function is a positive development for Recall users, providing more flexibility and control over their data.
