States having Highest & Lowest unemployment rates in December

India’s jobless rate increased to 8.30% in December, the highest level in 16 months, from 8.00% in November, according to data released by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).

In December, urban unemployment rose to 10.09% from 8.96%, while rural unemployment fell to 7.44% from 7.55%.

“The rise in the unemployment rate was not as bad as it may seem.”, said Mahesh Vyas, managing director of the CMIE

Haryana has the highest unemployment rate, at 37.4% while the unemployment rate in Odisha was only 0.9%, it was the lowest in the country.
