Japanese researchers have achieved internet transmission of 1 million gigabytes per second, over 1,123 miles. They set a new world record for long-distance, high-capacity transmission using a 19-core optical fiber with a standard cladding diameter. The 19-core fiber offers 19 parallel pathways for data transmission within a single fiber, making it compatible with existing infrastructure. This breakthrough could address the increasing global demand for data as post-5G communication services emerge.
