10 people were killed and 5 injured when a bridge over the Mahi river in Gujarat collapsed, with vehicles falling into the river.
Among the casualties, three belonged to the same family, including two children. Two trucks, one pick-up van, one car, and one autorickshaw were among the vehicles involved.
Authorities diverted traffic, and the Gujarat government ordered an inquiry into the incident. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced compensations for the victims' families and the injured.
The collapse occurred shortly after a meeting where the CM emphasized the need for timely repairs to roads and bridges. This incident follows a previous bridge collapse in Gujarat that claimed 141 lives.
