10,000 jobs to be axed in the US Health Department, many regional offices to close
- The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will reduce its workforce by 20,000 full-time roles.
- 10,000 employees will exit voluntarily, while 10,000 more will be laid off.
- Half of the HHS regional offices will be closed down.
- The cuts are in line with US President Donald Trump's efforts to reduce the federal government workforce size.
