12 Days of OpenAI – The Countdown Begins
- OpenAI has announced 12 days of live streams, planned from December 13th, 2022 to December 28th, 2022. The company will showcase new releases, demos, and various other features.
- One of the most anticipated updates is the official release of the o1 reasoning model by OpenAI, which has been described as the GPT-2 stage of reasoning development.
- OpenAI is also speculated to launch Sora, a new AI agent named Operator, a web browser for new conversations facilitated by GPT, a desktop app for early beta testing, and a new AI device designed to manage complex tasks driven by generative AI.
- The company is expected to improve GPT-4o’s ability to analyse images in-depth and to enable AI-generated music based on user preferences.
- Collaboration-enabled real-time ChatGPT projects and personalisation enhancements with the highly-customizable GPT-5 models are also expected by the end of the 12-day live stream.
- OpenAI wants to increase ChatGPT's weekly active users almost four-fold, from 300 million to a billion users any day.
- Over the past few years, OpenAI has been working with Apple's former design chief, Jony Ive, on a secret hardware project that uses generative AI for efficient complex tasks.
- OpenAI will also have new voices, including a special Christmas-themed voice, as well as different AI chips that could enhance their processing of optimized AI models.
