Mercedes-Benz's 2025 CLA EV will not be able to charge at 400-volt DC stations, limiting access to global charging stations.
The new compact sedan will only be compatible with 800-volt DC fast charging stations, due to the absence of a DC-to-DC voltage booster.
Mercedes has acknowledged the limitation and plans to offer a fix for US customer orders starting early next year.
Despite the initial restriction, Mercedes is expected to make the converter available for future CLA models, but details for other markets remain unclear.
