2026 BMW XM: Brash PHEV SUV gets $34k price cut in Australia

  • The 2026 BMW XM plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV in Australia receives a significant price cut, with the mid-spec XM Label becoming the sole model priced at $309,900 before on-road costs, down from $344,200.
  • This new XM variant will replace both the entry-level XM and the flagship Red Label model.
  • The 2026 XM retains the same powerful 550kW/1000Nm 4.4-litre twin-turbo PHEV powertrain, making it the most powerful BMW ever built with a 0-100km/h time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 290km/h.
  • Improvements include upgraded 11kW AC charging, allowing the 25.7kWh battery to be fully charged in 2 hours 45 minutes, faster than before.
  • The SUV offers a 98km electric-only driving range and a fuel usage claim of 2.7L/100km.
  • Variety of customization options are available, including a new Frozen Tanzanite Blue color, three new interior leather colors, and different alloy wheel styles.
  • BMW experienced record sales in Australia in 2024 with strong growth in electric vehicle sales driven by models like the i4 Gran Coupe, leading BMW to become the fourth best-selling electric car brand in the country.
  • Despite low sales volume for the XM model, BMW looks to enhance its offering with the updated 2026 XM variant.
