Kia's smallest SUV, the Stonic, is expected to receive mild-hybrid power next year in Australia.
Kia Australia's general manager for product planning, Roland Rivero, expressed interest in introducing the 48V-assisted Stonic.
The mild-hybrid version, called Stonic Eco-Dynamics+, will feature a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system to improve fuel efficiency.
Kia Australia has previously not sold MHEV versions of the Stonic but aims to release the mild-hybrid model to compete in the light SUV segment with electrification options.
