The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 2,477 new businesses in October 2024, bringing the total number of registered businesses in the country to 233,587.
Digitization played a vital role in the registration process, with 99% of the new businesses registered online using a faster and clearer method implemented by SECP.
Approximately 57% of the new registrations were private limited corporations, while sole proprietorships or partnerships with one person accounted for 41% of the businesses.
The IT and e-commerce sector had the highest number of new registrations, followed by services, trading, and other industries such as energy, real estate, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and tourism.
