Sword Health, a $3 billion startup, has cut a portion of its physical therapists as it aims to manage more patients using AI.
The company confirmed that 13 physical therapists were let go in October, constituting approximately 17% of its treatment-facing clinicians.
Sword Health plans to increase the average caseload for its physical therapists to 700 patients by the end of 2024, compared to the previous range of 200-300 patients per therapist.
The startup utilizes AI-generated messages for patient conversations, allowing therapists to edit or reject suggestions before sending them.
