The 4th Somaiya Polymer Science Symposium Series (S4P-4) was successfully hosted by the S. K. Somaiya College of Somaiya Vidyavihar University.
The event was centered around the theme “Polymer Science: Shaping Tomorrow’s Innovations,” aiming to showcase significant advancements and ideas in the field of chemistry and polymer science.
The symposium featured several academic sessions, a separate Industrial session as well as a student session, with 5 best poster awards from the American Chemical Society.
Over 30 eminent speakers from academia and industry addressed diverse topics that included sustainable polymers, Rheology, Polymer nanomaterials, biomaterials, and Supramolecular chemistry.
Leading professors delivered keynote speeches, including Padmabhushan Prof. P. Balaram on “Science Education in India: An Uncertain and Challenging Future,” among others.
The symposium was steered by a 13-member scientific committee, including Dr. Rahul Shingte of Solvay, Vadodara, who partnered with Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) among other associations.
The University expressed gratitude to all the distinguished guests for their attendance and commitment to advancing polymer science.
The event brought together several ex-students of Prof. V N Rajasekharan Pillai, including Prof. K Sreekumar, Cochin University of Science and Technology, and Dr. Sasikumar Pottayil, GaloreTx Pharmaceuticals Private Limited, Bangalore, among others.
The symposium’s success was a testament to the organizers' dedication to science, including Prof. Anil Kumar and other distinguished guests.
The SPSI, with a legacy of over three decades, is represented by several regional chapters across major cities in India, organizing professional activities to support its members.
