pv magazine visited a 1.9 MW agrivoltaic plant in Austria where pumpkins and soy are cultivated beneath vertically mounted PV structures supplied by Next2Sun.
The plant owners mentioned that the vertical configuration of the panels does not significantly interact with weather conditions.
A 0.5 meter gap is maintained between the panels and the plants, allowing the growth of flowers, and the plant produces an average of 12.5 to 13 MWh per day.
The installation of the vertical agrivoltaic plant took five to six months, avoiding the need for manual cleaning of the panels. The owners received 15% support from the Austrian government for the investment based on the land's dual use.
