A federal judge in Texas has blocked a new rule that would have expanded access to overtime pay to millions more salaried workers.
The court also struck down the increase in overtime pay that already took effect on July 1, 2020.
The previous overtime pay threshold of $35,568, set in 2019, will now go back into effect.
The Labor Department may appeal the decision, but if the appeal is pending when the new administration takes over on January 20, it is unlikely to continue.
