The US military satellite, GPS III SV-08, waiting for a launch slot with United Launch Alliance (ULA) will now be launched by SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket.
The Space Systems Command has reassigned the launch of the GPS satellite from ULA's Vulcan rocket to SpaceX.
The GPS III SV-08 satellite will join the Space Force's fleet of navigation satellites that provide positioning and timing signals.
SpaceX's Falcon 9 will now launch the GPS III SV-08 satellite, instead of ULA's Vulcan rocket, which is scheduled for its first national security mission later this year.
