Queen’s University Belfast and Coventry University from the UK have applied to set up international campuses in GIFT city in Gujarat, following Australian universities.
Queen’s University Belfast plans to start with 800 students and will offer masters' programs, with a possibility of offering undergraduate programs and setting up a research arm.
Coventry University, established in 1843, already has branch campuses in multiple countries and aims to tackle global challenges through its India Hub.
Foreign universities are allowed to operate in GIFT City under relaxed regulations, focusing on courses related to finance, technology, science, and engineering.
