Meta is actively testing a native tablet interface for an official Instagram iPad app that is expected to be released later in 2025.
The move comes after Instagram users often found the experience on iPad to be subpar due to the lack of a native app, leading to the use of the browser version.
The project for Instagram on iPad is in response to the looming TikTok ban in the United States, with Meta aiming for a 2025 release. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has confirmed the development work.
Meta, which also recently released a native WhatsApp iPad app, had historically shunned iPad apps but is now changing its stance in response to evolving technology and user needs.
