AI chip startup Tenstorrent has raised $693 million in a Series D funding round at a pre-money valuation of $2 billion.
The funding round was led by Samsung Securities and AFW Partners, with participation from notable investors including LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor Group, and Fidelity Management & Research Company.
Tenstorrent aims to disrupt Nvidia's hold on the chip silicon market by providing more affordable hardware for AI training and deployment.
The company focuses on interoperable hardware design and uses open-source RISC-V processor architecture to allow customers to customize silicon for their specialized use.
