Tech giants like Google and OpenAI, along with a group of 400 entertainment industry celebrities, submitted comments on a request for ideas for a U.S. AI Action Plan.
The celebrities urged the government not to weaken copyright laws for AI model training, as it could threaten jobs and wages in the arts and entertainment industry.
OpenAI proposed that AI models should be able to train on copyrighted material while protecting content creators' rights, in order to maintain America's AI leadership.
Google called for 'balanced copyright rules' that allow the use of copyrighted content for AI, within the boundaries of fair use and text-and-data mining.
