Anysphere, the maker of coding tool Cursor, raised $900 million in a new round of funding that values the company at $9 billion.
Thrive Capital led the funding round with participation from Andreessen Horowitz and Accel, marking a significant increase from the previous funding round where Anysphere raised $105 million.
Anysphere's growth is attributed to the rapid increase in annual recurring revenues, with Cursor allowing developers to use natural language to communicate with AI for coding tasks.
Despite acquisition interest from OpenAI, Anysphere decided not to sell as its revenue doubled every two months, while OpenAI acquired AI-powered code editor Windsurf for about $3 billion.
