Air India officials have stated that the 2018 FAA Advisory mentioned in the preliminary report on the Air India AI 171 crash was not as critical.
The US aviation regulator had issued a bulletin in 2018 warning of a fuel control switch malfunction in the Boeing 787, where the fuel supply to the engines could be cut off.
One of the key findings of the report on the crash highlighted that the twin engines shut down moments after take-off as fuel supply was cut off, with the switches moving from 'RUN' to 'CUTOFF' position.
Air India did not carry out inspections recommended by the FAA bulletin in 2018, as they were not mandatory, according to the report.
