Alphabet's self-driving unit, Waymo, has closed a $5.6 billion funding round led by Google parent company.
The funding will be used to expand Waymo's autonomous ride-hailing service, Waymo One, in multiple cities including San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Austin, and Atlanta.
Existing investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Fidelity, Perry Creek, Silver Lake, Tiger Global, and T. Rowe Price also participated in the funding round.
Other companies in the autonomous ride-hailing space include Tesla, GM's Cruise, and Amazon's Zoox.
