Alphabet's Waymo closes $5.6 billion funding to expand autonomous ride-hailing service

  • Alphabet's self-driving unit, Waymo, has closed a $5.6 billion funding round led by Google parent company.
  • The funding will be used to expand Waymo's autonomous ride-hailing service, Waymo One, in multiple cities including San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Austin, and Atlanta.
