Amazon is removing the 'Do Not Send Voice Recordings' feature from Echo smart speakers powered by Alexa.
The change will be effective from March 28 and impacts the Echo Dot (4th Gen), Echo Show 10, and Echo Show 15.
The removed privacy feature allowed recordings of voice commands to be processed locally, whereas now they will be sent to Amazon's cloud for processing.
The decision to remove the feature has been criticized by a tech expert who called it 'absolutely unforgivable'.
