Amazon has developed a new AI-infused warehouse robot named Vulcan with a sense of touch, capable of picking and stowing three-quarters of items in their warehouses.
Vulcan uses force-sensitive arms to rearrange and pick items in fabric-covered compartments, with AI integration for learning and improvement over time.
The robot has been operational in Spokane, Washington, and Hamburg, Germany, processing half a million orders, enhancing worker safety by handling items from top and bottom stacks.
While Vulcan is assisting in picking items, Amazon insists on human-robot collaboration for efficiency, stating that 100% automation is not believed in.
