Amazon released a new software update for recent Kindle models focusing on improving text and line spacing adjustments to enhance legibility and accessibility.
The update includes significant upgrades for adjusting text and line spacing on Kindle models, benefiting users with visual impairments and dyslexia.
The 5.18.3 software update is compatible with Kindle Scribes, Kindle Colorsoft, and 11th and 12th generation models of the basic Kindle and Paperwhite.
Amazon is gradually rolling out the update via the Kindle's automatic updates system, but manual updates are available for users who prefer immediate access.
Previously, Kindles only offered limited line spacing options; the new update introduces four size options for adjusting line spacing, paragraph spacing, word spacing, and character spacing.
The enhanced text and line spacing adjustments are accessed by selecting the 'Font' section, providing more customization options for users.
While Kindle models now offer improved spacing adjustments, competitor Kobo devices still provide more font size, line spacing, and margin adjustment options.
Despite offering fewer adjustment options than Kobo devices, recent Kindle models could be preferred options for users with visual impairments or dyslexia.
