Amazon has joined Microsoft and Google in supporting nuclear power by investing in startup X-Energy and signing two development agreements.
The investment and agreements aim to add around 300 megawatts of nuclear capacity in the Pacific Northwest and Virginia.
The development agreements involve the construction of small modular reactors (SMR) which are faster and cheaper to build.
X-Energy, specializing in high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, will receive funding from Amazon's Climate Pledge Fund to develop their Xe-100 reactor.
