Amazon's Project Kuiper is set to enter the Indian market with low-cost satellite internet solutions, aiming to provide connectivity to rural and remote regions.
The Department of Telecommunications is expected to issue a Letter of Intent for Amazon's Kuiper project, enabling the company to offer satellite-powered internet services in India.
Kuiper plans to launch over 3,200 low-Earth orbit satellites, rivaling Elon Musk's Starlink, to provide high-speed internet connections up to 1 Gbps for businesses and government use.
Kuiper will introduce three types of satellite internet terminals, including a 7-inch square design offering speeds up to 100 Mbps, with a goal to bridge the digital divide in underserved areas where terrestrial services are limited.
