Amazon has successfully launched its first satellites for the company’s Project Kuiper internet-from-space service.
The satellites were launched aboard a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
The long-term plan is to deploy at least 3,200 Project Kuiper satellites, providing broadband connectivity to individuals and businesses on the ground.
While SpaceX's Starlink service has already established itself with over 8,000 satellites, it may take several years for Project Kuiper to compete at a meaningful level.
