Amazon's Kuiper broadband internet constellation launched its first 27 satellites into space.
The launch is the first of 80 planned to establish Amazon's Project Kuiper satellite internet business to compete with SpaceX's Starlink.
The satellites were successfully activated and will provide 'high-speed, low-latency' internet later this year, according to Amazon.
SpaceX's Starlink, with over 7,200 satellites in operation, currently dominates the satellite internet market, despite several companies, including Amazon, seeking to provide alternatives.
