Amazon is shutting down its free, ad-supported streaming service Freevee in August to focus on consolidating content under Prime Video.
Freevee, originally launched as IMDb TV in 2019, offered free streaming of movies, TV shows, and original series without a subscription.
Users can still access the same shows and movies for free with ads on the Prime Video platform. The transition is expected to be complete by August.
Amazon's decision to retire Freevee comes as a part of a strategy to simplify its services and move towards platform consolidation in the crowded media landscape.
