Amazon has signed multi-year licensing agreements with media conglomerates Hearst and Condé Nast, allowing its AI shopping assistant Rufus access to a wide range of content from magazines like Cosmopolitan, GQ, Vogue, and The New Yorker.
Hearst and Condé Nast have confirmed the licensing deals, providing Rufus with access to their newspapers and magazines, enhancing the AI tool's ability to cater to shoppers' queries on product recommendations and shopping-related needs.
Rufus, the AI shopping assistant, is trained on Amazon's catalog, customer reviews, community Q&As, and information from the internet, suitable for the commerce-focused content prevalent in Hearst and Condé Nast publications.
This latest AI deal follows a trend of licensing agreements between content publishers and tech giants, reflecting the ongoing dynamic between content creators safeguarding their intellectual property and AI companies' demand for content to train their models.
