Amazon successfully launched the first 27 satellites for its Kuiper broadband internet constellation on Monday, marking the beginning of its deployment of an internet from space network to compete with SpaceX's Starlink.
This is part of Amazon's $10bn Project Kuiper, which aims to provide global broadband internet connectivity for consumers, businesses, and governments.
The deployment of the first operational satellites was delayed for more than a year, but Amazon plans to begin delivering service to customers later this year.
Amazon's Project Kuiper is seen as a major competitor to Starlink, with its focus on providing internet connectivity to rural areas and leveraging the company's consumer product experience and cloud computing business.
