Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman defended the company's return-to-office mandate, stating that innovation and speed of execution are better when employees work in person.
Garman emphasized the importance of in-person collaboration, creative energy, and faster iteration that happens when employees work in the office.
He mentioned that Amazon initially tried a three-days-a-week in-office schedule but found it impractical since employees chose different sets of three days to come in.
Garman stated that while some employees may not agree with the return-to-office policy, he believed most of them supported the change.
