The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has sued Amazon.com Inc., alleging that the company enrolled millions of consumers into its paid subscription service, Amazon Prime, without their consent.
The lawsuit claims that Amazon's website manipulates users into signing up for Prime and makes it difficult for them to cancel the subscription.
According to the FTC, the cancellation process for Prime is hard to find and requires multiple steps, and Amazon took more than 18 months to produce information requested by investigators.
This is the third lawsuit filed by the FTC against Amazon in recent weeks, following settlements related to data privacy issues with Alexa speakers and Ring doorbells.
