Amazon-owned Zoox issued a software recall for all 270 of its vehicles following a crash in Las Vegas involving an unoccupied robotaxi and a passenger vehicle.
The software update addressed a risky situation where the vehicle operating over 40mph encountered a vehicle approaching its lane from a perpendicular driveway, leading to the crash.
Zoox reported minor damage to both vehicles and no injuries in the incident, outlining the details in a voluntary safety recall report sent to the NHTSA.
This incident prompted Zoox to take action, as it faced a similar situation in the past where sudden hard braking by its robotaxis caused accidents, leading to the deployment of a software update in November last year.
