An Indian designer, Brinda Dudhat, is combining India's traditional textile heritage with a modern, abstract sensibility through her firm, Morii Design.
Morii Design collaborates with textile workers in 12 villages across India to produce vibrant wall hangings, room dividers, and artworks using traditional techniques.
In addition to promoting modern design, Brinda Dudhat is also committed to the well-being of the artisans by offering paid training and upfront compensation.
In the 1950s, the Indian government sought to improve the country's craft industries and production quality by inviting Charles and Ray Eames to propose recommendations, including establishing a design school.
