A future Android update will introduce a blurred wallpaper background for the lock screen widget page in line with the Material 3 Expressive design language.
Google has confirmed that the lock screen widgets, currently available on tablets, will be extended to phones in the Android 16 QPR1 release.
Material 3 Expressive brings a fresh look to Android with physics-based animations, vibrant colors, larger buttons, and background blur effects, though some parts of the OS still retain the old design.
The new background blur effect for the lock screen widget page was observed in the Android Canary build, providing a more consistent and visually engaging user interface.
