Peugeot plans to reintroduce the GTi badge on its all-electric e-208 compact hatch in an effort to reconnect to its sporty past and create a link between its road cars and motorsports.
Peugeot CEO, Alain Favey, stated that the reintroduction of the GTi badge is one of his top priorities as it represents an important step for the brand.
The e-208 GTi is expected to feature an all-electric drivetrain, and Peugeot is open to expanding its sporty lineup based on customer feedback.
It is speculated that the e-208 GTi could use the same powertrain as the Abarth 600e, which produces 175kW and has a 0-100km/h sprint time of 6.2 seconds.
