Another live service shooter comes to a premature end: Steel Hunters, the mech game that launched into early access in April, is closing in October

  • Developer Wargaming has decided to sunset the free-to-play mech shooter game Steel Hunters just three months after its early access launch in April.
  • The decision to end development was made due to sustainability concerns, despite the game showing potential with a more tactical approach to the genre.
  • Steel Hunters saw a decline in player numbers from an initial peak concurrent player count of 4,479 at launch to only a few hundred recently, leading to the closure.
  • The game's servers will stay online until October 8, all mechs will be unlocked for players, and support for custom games and a goodbye tournament are being arranged.
