Apple has changed its App Store rules in the U.S. to allow apps to direct users to their own websites for purchasing subscriptions or digital goods.
This decision follows a U.S. court ruling favoring Epic Games, which required Apple to not restrict apps from redirecting users for external purchases.
Apple updated its guidelines in response to the court decision, removing restrictions on buttons, external links, and calls to action in apps.
Despite disagreeing with the ruling, Apple will comply and appeal; Spotify has already submitted an updated app version for the U.S. App Store with external payment links.
